Santa in the Caboose

Area children visit Santa for a good cause.

Zanesville and Western Scenic Railroad hosted Santa in the Caboose today for an opportunity for children to take a picture with Old St. Nick and help support the restoration of the railroad.  While the event was free, donations were welcomed to help open the track that has been closed for 15 years.

"We have been doing this for about three years. We are trying to do it because a lot of people in the area have problems going in trying to get a picture with Santa Claus. They won’t let you take a picture unless you pay ten dollars for it," said Director of MOW Art Ruck.

For some kids, this day was an opportunity to tell Santa exactly what they wanted this year.  Hot items like the Wii, Super Mario, and a Laptop were common requests among the little ones.  And with a week left until Christmas, Santa has a few words of his own to share.

"Santa is watching you and be sure to enjoy the holiday season," said Santa.

If you missed Santa in the Caboose, don’t worry.  The train hasn’t left yet…you can catch him tomorrow from noon until five.
