Stomp Out Hunger

Some area youth are performing for a good cause.

The 4th Annual Stomp Out Hunger Food Drive and Community Dance was held earlier tonight at Sheridan High School.  The Steppin’ Generals, The Z-Town Steppers, and The Jackson Street Junior Steppers performed.  Admission was free as long as you brought in a non-perishable item.  Maria Bachus, co-founder of The Steppin’ Generals, expressed the importance of this event.

"Tonight’s event is for the community to come together and to collect food. Christmas is coming around the corner, and we want to make sure everyone has food for around the holidays," said Bachus.

All of the proceeds from tonight will go straight to Somerset, Glenford, and Thornville local food pantries.  The success of this year’s food drive was more than expected.

"We had an excellent turnout, plus we have two other groups that are performing here as well, it’s awesome, it’s really great," said Bachus.

Bachus says The Steppin’ Generals Youth Group is free to join and open to all students in the northern local schools.  For more information, you can call 740-973-3798.
