If you are planning on celebrating the new year there are many options when it comes to alcohol.
Champagne is the most widely used drink to toast in the new year with prices that range from $5.99 to $500. Champagne is considered a sparkling dry wine that comes from the Champagne region of France. One expert said there’s a difference between top shelf and bottom.
"It does make a difference if you know what to look for," said Owner of the Winerak Mike Alfman. "That has to do with how it’s made and what goes into making the champagne. Some grapes are hand picked. There’s different methods to making champagne which requires a lot of labor."
If a $350 bottle of Armond isn’t in your budget or you’re taking a pass on the Dom Perignon and still want the sparkle of Champagne, go for Austi, a sweeter sparkling wine and you can’t go wrong with your favorite drink.
"I see a lot of people doing perhaps their favorite drink," said Alfman. "They want to find something different because it’s there last chance to celebrate before the year is over."
Alfman said he recommends that if you do go for Champagne drink from a Champagne glass because it allows you to see the bubbles and enjoy it better. Champagne should also be consumed with in two to three days or it will go flat because it’s carbonated.
