A Zanesville retirement home is honoring the work and dedication of a well known community leader.

The Apartments at Cedar Hill hosted a small gathering this evening to recognize the Muskingum Valley Red Cross’ new Executive Director Marlene Henderson. Several Red Cross members along with community business owners came to the event to welcome her into the Chapter. Cedar Hill Administrator and Red Cross Board Member Rich Stephens says she is a staple to this community and looks forward to working with her.

"It was very important to us we did our executive committee search to have somebody that had input from the community and a feel for what was going on in our counties and the red cross and marlene having been there and been part of it over the past several years it was an easy choice for us to choose her," says Stephens.

Stephens also says she has been an intricate part of the Red Cross for many years and the transition for her has been relatively smooth since taking over the position.
