The Salvation Army is also teaming up with The United Way to offer tax help to those who qualify.

The United Way will be offering training at The Salvation Army in the upcoming two weeks.  Case Manager Karen Walker says for the first time, The Salvation Army will now be able to prepare taxes for those who meet the income criteria.

"It’s always wonderful when agencies work together because again, we can’t stand on our own. It takes the whole community to meet the needs of the individuals in our community," said Walker.

The Salvation Army will also be training with The Benefit Bank so they can offer tax preparation while working in conjunction with The United Way.  With The Salvation Army being able to help, Walker says they can help benefit the community.

"I think that everybody needs help and in today’s economy every penny counts. And if we can do taxes for somebody and they don’t have to pay for it, then it’s a win, win situation," said Walker.
