The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department welcomes a new Director of Nursing following Gloria Kieffer’s retirement.
Kieffer will retire at the end of the month after dedicating more than 20 years of service. During her time at the health department, she has worked with the juvenile detention center, conducted newborn home visits, and provided early start and early intervention services.
"It’s been a wonderful experience. I’ve really enjoyed working with all the people here at the health department and working with the community," said Kieffer.
As of January 31st, Carol Howdyshell will take over as the new Director of Nursing. Before coming to the health department, Howdyshell worked at Genesis Healthcare System for 11 years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing and is licensed as a registered nurse. Howdyshell says she is looking forward to her new position.
"I would have to say thank you. The staff that she has, the team that is here at the health department, I am not sure everyone realizes what an asset this organization is to the community and how bonded they all are so they are really lucky and I feel fortunate to be a part of that team," said Howdyshell.
After retiring, Gloria says she is looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren and gardening.
