A group of Muskingum County residents will take a plunge this weekend.
Rachel Wagner and a few friends will be diving into the polar bear tank at the Columbus Zoo. Wagner said not to worry though the bears won’t be there!
"An old friend of mine actually a friend since kindergarten, Ashley Devoll, asked me to jump in the tank and I said, Why not? And so that’s the actually name of our team, the Y-Nots," said a laughing Wagner.
There is a reason the team will be freezin’. It’s a way to raise money for the Special Olympics. In fact, Wagner’s co-workers at Western Southern Insurance have been teasing this polar bear plunger and helping her raise money for the cause.
"They’re getting a good chuckle out of it. They’ve had some nicknames for me. The plunger. I was called Geronimo this morning. Some of them are bringing their kids to watch and get a good laugh out of it," said Wagner.
Wagner dives in Saturday afternoon at 1:30. If you would like to donate to her team, the Y-Nots! visit the Special Olympics of Ohio website.
