Hot out of the oven, "In Good Taste Bakery" opened its door in January giving Zanesville a bakery again. Owner Beth Hayes says opening was a dream come true – view video to the left for more.
Things are cooking on Putnam Ave, it is the home of In Good Taste Bakery, a family ran business inspired by a family member.
"It was kind of my mother’s inspiration. I learned about everything I know from my mom so I just decided to go for it," said owner, Beth Hayes.
Hayes had been baking cakes at home and dreamt of one day owning a bakery. She did not know it would happen so quickly. Her doors opened just three months after the planning began.
When Williams Bakery on Market Street closed more than 5 years ago Zanesville was left without a bakery . It is one of the reasons they decided to open. Residents have enjoyed having the bakery. Hayes is building a clientele and people come in daily to taste her samples.
"They are enjoying just having some fun things to try and those things usually sell pretty easy," says Hayes.
Their top selling pre -ordered item is wedding cakes and making them is not as easy as television shows make it seem but, their top selling bake goods are for morning people.
"Cinnamon rolls… definitely the cinnamon rolls and we have a cupcake that is easily shared by 2 people that I pipe a big rose on top and those are fascinating to people and as soon as i make them they just fly out of here, " said Hayes.
She opens at 7:00a.m. but her day begins well before that to make everything as fresh as possible and unsold items are donated to The Salvation Army.
