An inability to pay will not keep kids from the YMCA experience; that is the goal of the "Y" Strong Kids campaign that kicked off today. The campaign goal is to raise $20,000.
Each box lunch sold for the fundraiser generates $2.00 that will go towards supporting families who would not otherwise be able to join the "Y".
"Anytime we have the opportunity to give back and demonstrate to our community how we make an impact is always a good feeling," said Executive Director Craig Miracle.
Miracle says the community support has been great. This really helps the kids who need and deserve the "Y".
"They are very active kids. One of the big things we teach our kids is the core value of the Y. That’s honesty, respect, caring and responsibility and we are able to develop the kids and see them grow," said Miracle.
WHIZ employees were able to enjoy the lunch. Miracle also says they are half way to their goal.
