National Signing Day Wrap

When you type a kid’s name into google and the page explodes with youtube highlights, you know he’s a big deal. With a 6-3, 215 pound frame, division one school’s such as West Virginia, Toledo and Akron saw Zach Shaw as a big deal, but only one fit the mold for the Coshocton linebacker. In one of the biggest signings in Redskins history, Shaw signed to play Big Ten football at Indiana University. Shaw set a school record for tackles and interceptions during his junior year, was named Eastern district defensive player of the year this past season, and will also play in the North-South All-Star game. {click video link for more}

At Zanesville, several D-I programs were interested in Anthony Smith before the 2010 football season, but when a season ending ankle injury benched the Blue Devil defensive end, D-I prospects were sidelined as well. However, national signing day still came with joy for Smith who inked the dotted line to play division two football at Ohio Dominican. Smith is nearly back to 100 percent and ODU certainly benefits from the addition of the 6-2, 235 pound DE. Joining Smith is good friend and teammate Braily Blair. In 2010, Blair compiled 13 touchdowns rushing and four interceptions as a linebacker on his way to first team All-Ohio accolades. {click video link for more}
