An area museum is finding creative ways to introduce arts to the youth.

The Beaux Arts Organization hosted the Sweet Heart Tea Party Saturday afternoon at the Zanesville Museum of Art. Little girls were invited to learn more about the Madame Alexander doll collection. The gallery houses over 600 dolls.

"We were trying to focus on the dolls and what little girls like to do and we wanted them to dress up and do something a little different," said Melanie Klotzbach.

Before being treated to tea and desserts, the girls learned about proper etiquette. Klotzbach says they decided to do a friend-raiser to bring more youth to the museum and also introduce them to the arts. She said various generations were represented at the event.

"Some have the grandparents, the mother and the daughter, so it’s a wonderful thing for them to share. I saw that some of the grandmothers brought old dolls themselves, the little girls were asked to bring their favorite doll if they’d like," said the coordinator.

All proceeds from the tea party will be donated to the museum.

Museum Hours: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Thursday 10 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
