The United Way’s Investment Committee met Monday afternoon to discuss funding for the 2012 fiscal year.
The committee is in charge of reviewing past spending and also determines where future spending goes for the community. This year United Way Executive Director Meg Deedrick anticipates the funding will go to three specific sectors throughout Southeast Ohio.
"Education, income, and access to health care. Those were identified in recent community questionaires and focus group interviews as the emerging needs in the community," said Deedrick.
The committee consists of volunteers from several community sectors including business, education, and non-profit.
"So we have a true cross section of the community to represent different perspectives and to bring their perspectives to the table," said Deedrick.
Deedrick says by the end of May, recommendations will go to the board and funding for the 2012 fiscal year will begin in July.
