An area school is promoting a healthy lifestyle for its students.
Dresden Elementary School teamed up with the Muskingum County Health Department to teach its students from kindergarten through sixth grade about the importantance of eating nutritiously. Events were held all week long to educate the children and to also have fun in the process.
"We are always talking about nutrition in our classrooms, whether it’s counting calories or talking about healthy foods," said Principal Linda Huston.
The students have started and ended each day with exercise, participated in trivia questions and were also rewarded for bringing healthy lunches to school. Huston said it’s important to educate the children now, so they don’t develop any bad habits later.
"To get off on the right foot and to go down the right path in the beginning is the best way to make it happen."
On Friday the students had the chance to dance to the " Cha Cha Slide" and celebrate the end of the week.
