A Guernsey County man is charged Thursday in connection with this week’s murder in Cambridge.
Prosecutor Dan Padden says that 43-year-old Michael Smith of Cambridge is facing one count of aggravated murder with a gun specification.
Smith is charged in connection with the shooting death of 21-year-old Kyle Carter on Tuesday.
Cambridge Police say Carter was shot just after 4:00 pm near the intersection of North 9th Street and Stewart Avenue.
Police say Smith got into an argument with Carter and his friend Cody Heskett.
Police says when officers arrived on the scene the suspect fired a handgun from his porch toward the two men and struck Carter in the chest with a bullet.
He later died at Southeastern Med. Cambridge Police Chief Richard Wayt says Smith and Carter knew each other and argued often.
