A 39-year-old Coshocton County man is dead after flames rip through a mobile home.

Sheriff Timothy Rogers says it happened just before 6:00 a.m.Thursday morning in a trailer at 44715 County Road 58.

Rogers says once the Jackson Township Fire Department was able to get the blaze under control, Jerry Pahoundis was found dead inside. The victim’s landlord spoke with WHIZ Thursday afternoon and says the victim was a good guy and was always trying to make a few extra bucks.

"He piddled around back here in the back with me, junking out stuff, picking up scrap. He hauled a lot of scrap from back here and then sold it and I let him do it because that’s what he did. He was always out scrapping the lot. He was just like a hustler," said Billy Leedy, Landlord.

The Sheriff says it looks like the victim died from smoke inhalation and the flames, but an autopsy will be performed to find the official cause of death. Leedy says he feels horrible.

"Nobody ever wants to go through this, nobody, no, not this. I can’t compare it to anything. There’s nothing to compare it to," said Leedy.

The state Fire Marshall’s Office is also helping with the investigation and says a cause has not yet been dertermined.
