The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority takes steps to sell a piece of Eastpointe property.
At Wednesday’s meeting the Port Board authorized Executive Director Mike Jacoby to enter into an agreement with CB Richard Ellis, the largest North American brokerage firm. The hope is they’ll be able to help sell the Job Ready Site at Eastpointe.
"They’ve done a lot of deals in Central Ohio. Big deals, big company. They convinced us they had the reach and connections to help us market this property," said Executive Director Mike Jacoby.
With a tight budget for this year the port is looking to sell the 295 acre site in hopes of getting a big payoff.
"We’ve invested a lot of money, the community has invested a lot of money into the Job Ready Site," said Jacoby. "I think we all recognize this is a long term investment. Obviously we’re looking for a payoff. We’re looking for jobs. We’re looking for revenues to make this investment pay off."
Working with CB Richard Ellis is the local firm of Dunzweiler Realty. Jacoby said the firms won’t be paid until the site is sold and he hopes to negotiate the agreement this week.
Also at Port Authority the board agreed to lease land at Eastpointe to a local farmer for $10,000. The farmer will use the land to plant corn, soybeans and hay. Jacoby said this will bring in some revenue to the Port and save on paying mowers this spring and summer.
