WHIZ News is highlighting two local residents selected for the 2011 Women of Achievement Awards.
The Muskingum Family Y has chosen Karen Vincent as the recipient of the Mary Townsend Professions award. She has been the Muskingum County Recorder since 1996. She is an active member in the community and is involved with several organizations.
"Just to be a part of this great group of women and all the past recipients is just truly a great award and very special. I’m not one to be in the spotlight so when someone recognizes your work that you do and your past accomplishments, it’s just very special," said Vincent.
Patty Boyd received the Mary Vashti Funk Business award. She is a Compliance Specialist at Genesis Employees Credit Union. She also works with a number of organization and says she’s been volunteering since she was a little girl.
"I was really honored, I was totally caught off guard by the phone call cause I kind of just say yes when people ask me to do things and volunteer and I enjoy helping people, working with people, and meeting new people," said Boyd.
All eight recipients will be honored at a special dinner being held on April 20th at Ohio University-Zanesville at 6 p.m.
