The American Red Cross is ready to provide assistance for Japan during this time of devastation.
The Japanese Red Cross has already deployed 11 national disaster response teams to conduct assessments of the damage around the country.
"The Japanese Red Cross much like the American Red Cross we do have warehouses that are stocked and on a moments notice we can usually get to those items and set up cots, blankets, and emergency supplies," said Executive Director of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross Marlene Henderson.
Henderson said they are currently waiting for more information on the disaster to develop. She said volunteers from the local chapter will most likely be called in to assist with potential danger the west coast and Hawaii may be facing.
"No matter what happens, no matter what size the disaster we are equipped and trained and ready to go on a moments notice," she said.
The Red Cross is unable to accept inquiries to contact or locate family members or friends in Japan at this time.
