The Perry County Sheriff’s Office had a busy Wednesday searching for a suspect who possibly drowned in a creek in Junction City.

Sergeant John Russel said around 10 a.m. dispatchers received a call of an intoxicated man walking along State Route 37 near Flag Dale Road heading towards Lancaster.

"Our deputy encountered the subject asked him to come talked to him and he took off running through the field and into the woods and then eventually ended up into the waterway here," said Sergeant John Russel with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.

Sergeant Russel said since the suspect was believed to have jumped into the creek, additional emergency crews were brought in to assist in finding him.

"We called in Fairfield Special Ops unit, their search and rescue teams, their dive teams, they are certified divers, we do have an air unit from OSP circling the area to see if we can find him from above," said Junction City Fire Chief John Mason.

The suspect was eventually apprehended further down Flag Dale Road a couple of hours after the search began. His name is unknown at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
