A Zanesville man is sentenced for growing marijuana outside his home.

The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says that 25-year-old Michael Stires went before Judge Mark Fleegle and received 2 years of community control, 100 hours of public service, obtain his GED, and successfully complete the Men’s Intervention Program through the probation department.

Judge Fleegle says if those stipulations are not met Stires will have to serve a 10 month prison sentence.

Assistant Prosecutor Bob Smith says in August of last year deputies from the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office discovered marijuana outside Stires home on Pinkerton lane.

Stires father, Alfred, also has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of cultivating marijuana, but has not been sentenced yet.
