A Muskingum County teacher is out of a job Wednesday.
The Tri-Valley School Board of Education unanimously voted to terminate Tri-Valley High School Biology teacher Susan Moore after they say she falsified information about employment with the district. Tri-Valley Superintendent Mark Neal says Moore had nine instances in the last two years taking sick leave at Tri-Valley and says that is a misuse of public tax dollars. Neal also says on two instances, she took two sick days in a row at Tri-Valley, taught a class at Zane State at night, then took another sick day after.
"The unfortunate thing is that just as any business or any school is, once in a while, you have employee situations that you just simply can’t ignore. This is one of those situations," said Neal.
Moore’s Attorney David Latanick says all sick leave requested was approved by Neal and the evidence he has does not constitute falsification of sick leave. Moore’s last day with the district was Wednesday.
