Those who have suffered from cancer are being remembered.

Coshocton’s first ever "Bark for Life" event sponsored by the American Cancer Society was held on Saturday. Locals were invited to walk a mile with the canine companions along the Lake Park towpath to help raise money for the organization.

"It turned out really nice, we had almost 80 dogs here walking, we’ve raised over $1,000 for the American Cancer Society so I think we’ve had a really nice event," said Chairperson Missy Wilson.

Wilson said dogs are not allowed at the Relay for Life event held annually, so they thought this would be a great way to involve both participants and their pets. Committee member Sara Lambert said it’s also a good reason to get outside and exercise.

"Exercise is important even if you’re a human or a canine, so if you have a dog get your dog out and walk it, I mean more exercise is better," she said.

A relay for life walk will be held at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds on May 13th and 14th. For more information, you can visit
