Do you know someone in the community who has overcome adversity and deserves to be recognized?

WHIZ Media Group and the Fieldhouse are looking for nominees for the Courage in Athletics Award. It was created in 2002 and is dedicated to Seth Dille who never let his Cerebral Palsy keep him from playing soccer and running track.

"We have so many athletes especially in the WHIZ viewing area that have not let the word no or their physical disabilities stop them," said Alainna Amicone-Durfee of the Fieldhouse.

Any senior who participates in athletics is welcomed to apply. All nominations need to include a detailed background of the student along with a signature from their high school principal. Durfee said they have also started the Fieldhouse foundation.

"For those people who had applied for the award but were not able to get that scholarship will then still be able to live their life for fun and fitness through the fieldhouse," said she said.

The recipient of the Courage in Athletics Award will receive a $500 scholarship.

Nominations for this award should be mailed to either addresses:
