Working long hours may be killing you.
A study published in the "Annals of Internal Medicine" found that adults who worked 11 hours a day or more had a 67% higher risk of developing Coronary Heart Disease than those who worked an eight hour shift.
"People who work long hours don’t take care of themselves, they don’t get enough sleep, they don’t eat right, they don’t exercise, they are not doing the things that help keep them healthy," said Dr. Vicki Whitacre with the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department.
Dr. Whitacre said it’s important to take time to relax and participate in activities that will help reduce your stress.
"Take time to have fun, a lot of those people that were involved in the study said they took their jobs home with them, you’ve got to give time for you," she said.
She said research is still being reviewed for further analysis.
