Hundreds of volunteers were recognized Thursday evening for their hard work and dedication to the medical field.

Held at North Terrace Church of Christ in Zanesville, Genesis Health put on a dinner for more than 500 volunteers.

"This year, all the volunteers donated over 64,000 hours of service. We have volunteers who are celebrating individually over 10,000 hours of service. We have some volunteers who are celebrating over 45 years of service so we’ve got an incredible group of folks here," said Paul Mcclelland, Director, Volunteer Services for Genesis.

Mcclelland says volunteers do everything from staffing desks, working at the hospital’s gift shops and even assist in transporting patients to other facilities.

"There’s virtually not many things that volunteers don’t help with and don’t touch in some way, shape or for," said Mcclelland.

Genesis’ CEO Matt Perry was also at Thursday evening’s event to thank all the volunteers for their continued hard work and support
