A lock along the Muskingum River will remain closed due to repairs.
Lock 10 on the Muskingum River Parkway won’t open for the 2011 Lock Season which is on May 14th due to needed repairs under the Zanesville Canal.
Repairs are expected to begin shortly to the damaged storm drain that runs under the canal. The culvert doesn’t pose a threat to safety but the repair is vital to prevent further damage to the canal.
The wooden trash gates at the upper end of the canal are closed to alleviate pressure on the canal bank and safety to workers completing the project.
Measures to open the gates are scheduled to begin on May 16th. All other locks with the exception of Lock 11, the Ellis Lock will continue to operate as listed as operational.
