The Ohio Department of Transportation has officially announced its construction plans in our area for this year.

District 5 Deputy Director Joe Rutherford says Muskingum County will have 8 major projects this construction season that will be getting underway as soon as the next few weeks.

"We’ve got some night resurfacing on I-70 from Zanesville over to the Guernsey County line. We’ve got a lot of work on State Route 60 in Zanesville and then north of Zanesville up to Dresden," said Rutherford.

Rutherford adds that Muskingum County alone will have about as much money spent on improvement projects as other area counties combined.

"That’s indicative of the bridge and pavement conditions in Muskingum County. We’ve got some areas that need some work especially State Route 60 in Zanesville. "

Other improvement projects will include road resurfacing work along State Route 37 and 668 in Perry County. State Route 40 and US 22 in Guernsey County will see some road resurfacing this summer. Coshocton County will only see one culvert replacement project once construction season starts.
