Some locals had a chance to eat a delicious breakfast Saturday morning and also help a good cause.
The Muskingum Valley Red Cross hosted a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s in Zanesville. Tickets were $5.00 and all proceeds benefited the organization.
"We only get our funding from the United Way and the good people of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan County, so doing events like this helps bring in the money we need to help the people for any disasters that might come up," said Troy Alford of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross.
Over 150 families have been assisted through the disaster relief fund this year. Alford said community support and donations go a long way in helping those in need.
"It’s very important for us to raise the money for that reason to remember that when you do donate to the American Red Cross it is helping your neighbor or someone around the corner in our own community," said Alford.
He said they hope to make about $1,000 from the breakfast. For more information on how you can help, you can visit their website at www.muskingumvalleyredcross.org
