The Zanesville Police Department is currently investigating two area robberies.

Detective Sergeant Ric Roush said around 10 p.m. on Monday, a robbery occurred at Speedway Gas Station located at 930 Blue Avenue. Another happened on Tuesday at 1 a.m. at Moto Mart Gas Station at 2341 Maple Avenue. He believes the two incidences are related.

"A white male suspect enters the stores, demands cash from the victim clerks that were working, and after receiving an undisclosed amount of currency from those stores they fled on foot," said Detective Sergeant Ric Roush.

The suspect is described as a white male, six feet tall, medium build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and ball cap. Detective Roush said they are classifying these crimes as unarmed robberies.

"Both of the victims in these robberies state that the person did make some comment or gesture in some way to indicate that they may have possibly been armed even though no weapon was observed," he said.

No injuries were reported and authorities are continuing to investigate.
