Eastside Community Ministry hosted its 5th Annual Spud Luncheon on Sunday.
The public was invited to enjoy some home-cooked food at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in downtown Zanesville. All proceeds raised will benefit the ministry.
"It’s designed to help raise funding for Eastside Community Ministry and the various programs that we have there primarily the food pantry, the clothing bank and the emergency services and our youth program for 32 children everyday," said Rev. Bob Davidson.
Davidson said their mission is to break the cycle of poverty in the community.
"In order to do that it’s more than just giving out food, it’s more than just giving out clothing, but also providing some educational opportunities for them as well to learn to move from dependence to move to stability and be able care for their own families," he said.
They expected to raise more than $700 from the luncheon. For more information on the services the ministry provides, you can visit their website at www.eastsidecommunityministry.org
