A Coshocton County Sheriff’s Deputy escapes a traffic accident with only minor injuries Wednesday night.
Coshocton County Sheriff Timothy Rogers said that around 9 p.m. the sheriff’s office was advised a West Lafayette officer was responding to a domestic call in the Village of West Lafayette. Coshocton County Deputy Mike White was responding as back up and was eastbound on County Road 16 between Miller’s Dip and Schumaker’s curve when a deer jumped into the roadway.
Deputy White attempted to swerve but the animal struck his passenger door, causing the vehicle to go off the left side of the road.
Deputy White then overcorrected and went off the right side of the road striking an embankment and came to rest.
He was taken to Coshocton County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
