The Muskingum County Fairgrounds is busy this weekend, but not with what you may think.
The Fairgrounds are filled with hundreds of campers and RV’s for the Ohio Good Sam Samboree. The Ohio Chapter of the group is meant for camping and RV enthusiasts in the state. The four day long campout began Thursday and President Dave Spragg says about the same amount of people return to the fairgrounds each year.
"But a lot of them we get new and I think we’ve got about maybe 20, we call them first timers, first timers to come to our Samboree," said Spragg.
With gas prices still around the 4 dollar level, Spragg says he’s very surprised but grateful at this year’s turnout.
"I was afraid we’d only have about 100 campers here and I had 289 but a lot of those have registered before the gas prices went up so bad," said Spragg.
Some people came as far south as Florida to come up for this weekend’s Samboree.
