Helping Animals in Need

Area college students are hoping to give stray cats and dogs a place to call home.

The Zane State Business Club held a Pet Adoption Fair on Saturday. The public was invited to enjoy a fun walk with their dogs and help raise money for the Animal Shelter Society in Zanesville.

"One thing that animal shelter does try to get across is to have people spay and neuter their pets because overpopulating animals is an issue that does need to be taken care of and we need responsible pet owners and that’s what they’re trying to find," said Vice President Angela Durbin.

A contest was held for best dressed, smallest, and largest dogs. Vendors were also on site offering a variety of services. Durbin said it’s important for people to come together to help animals in need.

"A lot of people find that it’s not necessarily their issue because it’s not their pet they think well we take care of our pet, but in the end if we don’t all come together as a community, then it does affect the community and society as a whole," she said.

The club hoped to raise more than $100. For more information on adoptions, you can visit:
