Some area residents are dressing up as cowboys and reliving their childhood.
The 21st Annual Hopalong Cassidy Festival is being held at the Pritchard Loughlin Civic Center in Cambridge on Friday. Over 2,400 pieces of memorabilia are on display. Several Hollywood celebrities from western television shows like Rifleman and The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams are also there.
"Hoppy was my hero when I was a young boy, I mean I was hoppied out, I had the hat and the boots and everything and when I saw Francis over there who is a Hopalong Cassidy double it was like walking back into time," said Dan Haggerty who played Grizzly Adams.
William Boyd was given the role of Hopalong Cassidy in 1935. He was originally from Cambridge. Founder of the festival Laura Bates said the television show taught youth about family.
"When he was on television he encouraged the young boys and girls to be good citizens and he made a difference in their lives, so they’re trying to relive those better times," said Bates.
The festival will pick back up tomorrow from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tickets cost $5.00
