The Muskingum County Library System is continuing to expand its use of technology.
The John McIntire Library in Zanesville recently added eight laptops to its facility. Last year, 52,000 hours of public computer use were logged, creating an increased demand for internet access.
"It’s another research information seeking tool and it’s a new format that we continue to expand in the library in response to the agreement that we made with the community that we’ll listen to what you need and make that happen in your six public libraries," said Public Relations Director Blair Tom.
Tom said they added the laptops to help create personal work stations for the public. He said providing computers serve a number of purposes.
"In this current economy a lot of people are learning computer skills and just simply by having the opportunity to use the technology, it helps build their skill set for job searches," said Tom.
The laptops are free and open to the public.
