The WIC Program of Muskingum County is being relocated.
Health Commissioner Corey Hamilton met with the County Commissioners on Monday afternoon to review cost estimates and blue prints for its move to Putnam Avenue. That building currently houses the Help Me Grow Program and the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps.
"Help Me Grow, Wic, and the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps currently service a lot of the same families and so it would be a nice little hub for them to serve those families in that neighborhood," said Hamilton.
Since the programs are federally and state funded, they have to follow specific rules and regulations before any changes can take place. Hamilton said it means a lot that the commissioners have been so helpful.
"I’m just so thankful for them they really are looking for the best interest of the community," she said. "They know that these programs do serve a lot of families in our community and and they have been great to work with."
The move is expected to take place sometime in July.
