Licking County held primary elections on Tuesday.
The only contested race on the ballot was the Republican primary for mayor of Newark. Incumbent Bob Diebold will not be serving another term. He lost the primary to Newark city treasurer Jeff Hall. Out of 2560 votes cast Hall received 39.53 percent to Diebold’s 35 percent and Coshocton music teacher Mike Blowers 25.47 percent.
Hall will face Democrat Max Sutton in the November election.
The Newark City School District had a one-percent income tax renewal measure on the ballot. It passed with 2716 votes for the tax and 2300 against.
