Area softball players are striking out for breast cancer.
The West Muskingum Middle School Tornadoes hosted a breast cancer awareness game against the Philo Electrics on Sunday to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In addition to planning and organizing the game, the team’s head coach also had the girls research and conduct presentations for school so they could learn more about the disease.
"I think it’s important for them to experience things like this because not everyone is affected but so many people are affected and for those few that aren’t affected in some way it’s a good just real life experience for them," said Coordinator Michelle Cardiel.
The day was a success with over $1,700 raised. All proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
