Summer Camps for Kids

by Nichole Hannahs on May 23, 2011

Campers at the Y will have a chance to swim this summer but that’s just one of the activities.

The camps provide a fun, educational and adventurous summer for the campers. The Y is a licensed child care center for those parents who need a place for kids to go once school is out for summer.

Some of the activities include nature hikes, games, trips to the Ohio University facilities and of course swimming.

"The kids have a great time," said Craig Miracle the executive director at the Y, "They meet new friends. We have a great staff that works with them and builds core values the Y is about."

While camp may start at nine every morning and end at four there’s a chance for extended hours for parents that need to drop off kids early or pick them up late. At the end of the day Miracle said the kids will be worn out from all that they do.

"It’s a very actiive camp. Kids aren’t inside unless we have inclement weather," said Miracle. "They’re consistently on the go."

The Y will work with those that can’t afford the full price of camp so that children can attend. If anyone is interested in any of the Y summer camps they should contact YMCA park central at the (740) 453-9622.
