The 25th ribbon cutting in the City of Zanesville took place Tuesday morning at Wade’s Clothing.
Mayor Zwelling along with owners Doug Pickrell and Jay Benson, and Manager Bruce Barclay who has been with the store for 27 years took part in the ceremony. Pickrell and Benson bought the business after the store closed late last year to continue it’s almost 40 year history in the Zanesville community.
"This community is doing better than any community that I have talked to and I’ve talked to several mayors during this recession. 25 ribbon cuttings and 3 or 4 more soon to happen," said Mayor Zwelling.
Zwelling says Zanesville has been dealing with the tough business conditions like most communities and keeping businesses like Wade’s going only helps the endeavor.
"This is a class B market and an A market is cities like Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinatti. Big stores might open in a class A market during a recession, but they are going to be a little cautious about a B market," said Zwelling.
Several more ribbon cuttings will follow in the coming months including several new restaurants expected to open in Zanesville.
