The Wednesday Farmer’s Markets in Zanesville are starting up again.
Vendors from Muskingum and surrounding counties will pack the parking lot of the Welcome Center in downtown Zanesville every Wednesday from now until mid October. Vendors will be selling a variety of items including produce, baked goods, foods, and flowers.
"It’s a chance for us to get the people out of their cars in downtown Zanesville as we’re standing here with fifth street behind me, a lot of cars drive through downtown but what we need to do is get them to stop in downtown and get out of their cars," said Welcome Center’s Dana Matz.
Matz says the farmers market is a great way of supporting the southeast Ohio economy.
"So there’s a comradery. They get to know the grower, the growers gets to know the consumer, and you don’t get that when you go to the grocery store," said Matz.
The farmers market will run from 4:00-6:30 every Wednesday. The market is still looking to add a few specialty vendors such as honey, salsa, jams and jelly producers. For more information, you can call the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce at 740-455-8282
