Agencies Using Web Site to Hunt for Volunteers

If you’re looking to volunteer at various organizations within Muskingum County, it could be as easy as a click of a mouse.

It’s a first ever program for southeast Ohio. WeServe, it’s a web site dedicated to partnering agencies in the county with residents looking to volunteer. Representatives from the web site went in front of the Muskingum County Commissioners Thursday to explain the program.

"There’s some national sites out there but they don’t have enough really focused in southeast Ohio so this is solely just in our community and county right now," said Dr. Brian Law, Founder of WeServe.

Law says there is a lack of communication between agencies looking for volunteers and volunteers looking to help. This web site would help bridge that gap.

"Volunteers don’t know how to get involved and a lot of volunteers don’t want to take the initiative and call an agency and say hey I want to serve, what do i do? This is kind of that intermediary in there to help make it easier for volunteers to find a place of service," said Law.

The Muskingum County Commissioners think this is a great program for the county and think it will do well. The web site currently has over 25 agencies and over 140 volunteers. To learn more about how you can volunteer, you can visit their web site at
