An auction held this weekend proved to be a success for the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office.

Items auctioned were seized and recovered during drug investigations the Sheriff’s Office conducted over the past year. Deputies recovered everything from gold coins to four wheelers and even a 1967 Firebird convertible.

"We had over 255 buyers numbers distributed, the sale started at about 10:00 and we sold right around 600 items out there at the sale," said Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz.

Lutz says the auction raked in a whopping 45,000 dollars. That money will be split between the sheriff’s office and the prosecutor’s office.

"Obviously there’s a lot of cooperation between our agencies in getting these investigations conducted and getting them finalized," said Lutz.

The Sheriff’s Office will put the money towards new cars, equipment for the department’s drug unit, and communications equipment.
