A Zanesville couples helps to bring a piano playing star and an a cappella group to Secrest Auditorium.
Thom and Tammi Black want to help the 18 food pantries of Muskingum County by holding a concert.
"Of the 84,000 that are here 18.8 percent fall at or below the poverty level so that’s over 16,000 people," explained Tammi Black. "28 percent of the people being served by the pantries are 60 plus, 23 percent are 0-17."
Performing at the concert is Gordon Mote who’s played the piano live for Trisha Yearwood, Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood among others. The Voices of Lee appeared in 2000 on NBC’s Sing Off.
The couple’s goal is to raise $18,000 from the event.
"A part of the reason we’re trying to raise cash is because they’re able to use their money to buy their food from the Mid-Ohio Food Bank," said Black. "Mid-Ohio is getting donations from Kellogs and I can’t even tell you all the companies that donate."
The concert takes the stage of Secrest on Saturday July 16th at 7p.m. Tickets are $15.00 a person or a group of ten for $125.00. Tickets can be purchased at Secrest Auditorium.
