The Zanesville Jaycee’s hope to make the 4th of July one of patriotic pride for our area.
The organization will again host Stars and Stripes on the River at Zane’s Landing Park, July 3rd and 4th. The even features bands both days, food concessions, a carnival and of course the main attraction fireworks on the 4th.
"We’re always delighted to put this on for the community," said Dave Mortimer a member of the Zanesville Jaycees. "We’ve been putting it on for quite a few years and it gives people something to do on the 4th of July."
Last year the event was in jeopardy because of an economic decline and cost. This year things are looking good with sponsors stepping up to help with the cost.
"I think people appreciate it for the size of the town that we have here," said Mortimer. "We have a very good fireworks display. Other communities have had to do away with their fireworks because of funding and the economy and we’ve been able to hold on."
Mortimer said they are still looking for sponsors for the event. If you’re interested you can contact the Zanesville Jaycees. Stars and Stripes on the river will start around 3p.m. on both the 3rd and 4th.
