A new youth group in Roseville is hoping to spawn some interest in some local kids.

The St. Johns Lutheran Church youth group hosted their first ever Cruise-In event, on Saturday afternoon. The community was invited to bring their cars, trucks, and tractors to an afternoon of food, games and prizes. Organizer Steve Wolfe, said, the group currently only has about a dozen kids, so an event like Saturday’s takes a lot of effort.

"I think, they get to see people coming together, and working together, and working together as one," said Wolfe. "This has been kind of a big project for us, and to kind of see how it all comes together. To start off with an idea and see people work together and achieve a goal."

Wolfe said, they were expecting only about 50 people, so they were pleasantly surprised when more started rolling in.

"We thought it was going to be a couple people from the church and then, they actually started coming in at like, I don’t know, eleven o’clock," said, Youth Group Members, Courtney Smith and Lacy Hoffert. "And I’m like wow, this is going to be a pretty good turn out."

All benefits from the day will go towards the PRAYER Company Youth Group. They hope to sponsor a drive-in movie night and a weekend concert in the near future.
