The summer concert series at Zane Landing Park is coming to a quick crescendo as the season steps off.
The second concert took place Sunday evening and featured the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band. The band has been in existence for over 93 years which Artistic Director, Jeffrey Roquemore said, represents old-fashioned Americana.
I"f you can think in the olden days before movies, and all that, every town had a town band and the community band played in the town square," said Roquemore. "And we are just like that, bringing back the nostalgic."
The volunteer based band performs every other Sunday at Zane’s Landing Park. Roquemore said, with the weather is always unpredictable, having an outdoor event is risky, but it won’t stop them from performing.
"Pleased we can get this concert in under the clouds," said Roquemore. "And we’re sure its going to be a fine concert."
In the event of rain, concerts will take place at the Elson Hall Auditorium on Ohio University-Zanesville’s campus. All of the band’s performances are free and open to the public
