A local tire store is doing its part to help with the serious overcrowding issue at the Animal Shelter in Muskingum County .

City Tire Owner David Frame says he got the idea to help the shelter from his daughter who is an animal lover. They will be giving out 50 dollar gift certificates and free oil changes to those who come out and adopt a pet.

"We’ve adopted animals from the animal shelter and love them. We just adopted a cell dog that is just amazing and very well behaved so we wanted to do what we could to keep the animals from being euthanized," said Frame.

Animal Shelter’s Larry Hostetler says there has been a slight improvement since news got out that the shelter was at full capacity.

"It was very heartwarming that he stepped up and they’re going to do a benefit to help us out," said Hostetler.

The event will take place at City Tire across from the Sunrise Center on June 11th. WHIZ will also be broadcasting live on Z-92 at the event from 10:30-12:30 in the afternoon.
