The new OHSAA numbers are out, and it appears that the Zanesville boys and girls basketball programs will play at least the next two years at the Division One level. In a motion approved by the OHSAA Board of Directors today, Zanesville’s male enrollment places them in Division I, with 409 boys. The cutoff to remain in Division II was 368 boys. Zanesville most recently competed in Division II Basketball during the 2008-09 season, and was the only team in Division I history to win a state title with an undefeated record in 1995. The girls basketball program is back up to Division I as well, with 384 girls. The Division II cutoff for girls is 358. No other area teams appear to be affected by the new OHSAA enrollment numbers.
