5K Feeds the Hungry

The rain didn’t stop walkers and runners Saturday morning in efforts to help feed the hungry.

The Kellogg 5K supports Christ’s Table in Zanesville. About 400 people came out to show their support. Christ’s Table Executive Director, Keely Warden said she hopes to raise about $1,000 which would feed around a thousand people.

"This is a great boost for us," said Warden. "It’s been a tough year, it’s been a tough year for everybody and this race just comes at the perfect time, summer is such a rough time for us."

Serving more than 400 meals on Friday, she hopes the proceeds from today will be enough to carry them through August. Participant, Brenda Swartz said she has had no previous connection with Christ’s Table but seeing the fellowship was encouraging.

"I am a Christian," said Swartz. "And I believe in helping others and this I totally supported."

If you were unable to participate in the 5-K and would still like to help Christ’s table will be selling lemonade this weekend at the Stars and Stripes on the River.
